John Frederick London Dickinson

  General Information:

Very little is known of John Dickinson. He appears in many photo's with his cousin, John Dickinson Harris and in several others with the Harris family children taken at 450 Pape Avenue between 1909 and 1915.

It is known that John was developmentally delayed in some way. Another theory is that John was diagnosed as mentally ill and institutionalized at a young age - around 1917. This would make John less than 7 years old at the time. This theory does not seem very probable. John would have been very young for institutionalization to occur; although, research suggests that this reality was not entirely unheard of at this time in history, especially if John's Mother, Ethel, died and George was left to care for him. It is known that John ceased to be present in the life of his father, George Dickinson, about the same time as his mother Ethel did. This fact affirms the notion that Ethel and George divorced as opposed to Ethel passing away. Therefore, it is more than likely that she took John with her if she left.
