Barbara Ann Harris

   Other names for Barbara are Anne and Barbara Ann.

  General Information:

Anne is a very talented poet/writer, she has written to many family members with regards to various issues that they may be enduring.

Anne wrote a very moving message & poem for the family of Frank Granger Harris (this writers Father) after his passing on June 5, 2007 - It was greatly admired and read by dozens that attended his Memorial Service on June 23, 2007...and I thank her deeply for this very kind gesture.

It is as follows:


"Your Dad, Frank - had such a great life - and left a wonderful legacy - Thank you for including such wonderful history in your notification to us all - of his passing."

"It is very interesting to review your website, now that I know a bit more about your branch of the family"

"You will certainly miss your Dad - at many more times than you now realize - May all your good memories sustain you through the hard times."

"Life; as we know it and as we want it to continue, just isn't long enough - but without these great loves in our lives we would have missed out on a lot; and so would our parents have."

"My Dad would have been 93 on Monday, June 11th - I remember him like it was yesterday - especially how he was with my children - and all our animals; at home and on the farm."


You can shed tears that your Dad, Frank is gone...
or you can smile because he has lived.
You can close your eyes and pray that he'll come back,
or you can open your eyes and see all that he has left behind.
Your heart can be empty because you can't see him,
or you can be full of the love that you shared.
You can turn your back on tomorrow,
and live in yesterday,
or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.

You can remember him, and only that he is gone,
or you can cherish his memory and let it live on.
You can cry and close your mind,
be empty and turn your back,
or you can do what your Dad, Frank would want:
Smile,
Open your eyes,
Love,
and...
Go on.

"For family history purposes - I was always known as
Barbara Ann (never just Barbara) per my Dad's request !!"

Since 1986 I've been called Anne (with an e) and then after marriage to
Floyd - as Anne Dowling (which I am only known as at work and with his
family and friends).

Barbara married Hans Ulrich Manthei on 26 Jun 1959 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The marriage ended in divorce in Jan 1983. (Hans Ulrich Manthei was born on 28 Apr 1938.)

Barbara next married Floyd Douglas Dowling on 31 Dec 1988 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. (Floyd Douglas Dowling was born on 12 Nov 1922 in Bladworth, Saskatchewan, died on 14 Nov 2004 in Winnipeg, Manitoba and was buried in Ashes Interred - Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Winnipeg.) The cause of his death was Accidental - Resulting From a Fall.
