The following quote is taken from the "Swish Family Richardson" - a small, but highly informative 20 page book on the Richardson family written by an R.B. Richardson in 1998. I received this book from Joan (Harris) Macrae of Scotland. She mailed it to me shortly before her death in August 2006. He speaks of Frederick in a small biography; as follows:
"Frederick Thomas Richardson became an alderman at 19 in Edge Hill, Liverpool and a Justice of the Peace by 1924. While retaining a strong interest in his parish church and Sunday school and rigidly abstaining from alcohol and tobacco he became a disciple of Karl Marx and a preacher of the New Economic Gospel."
"He must have become something of an agitator which seemed to deny him the rewards that his position could have brought, serving the workers of his trade union without fear or favour. Did his childhood influence him? While he undoubtedly learnt his faith at the hands of the local Baptist preachers, did events of his early life in connection with his Father's fortunes shape his almost belligerent attitude? Of course, we may never know something drove him to sit on the Court of Governors of the Liverpool University (he left school at 15) and other influential bodies and to become not only the Chief Magistrate of the Liverpool City Council but the fourty-fourth Lord Mayor of Liverpool. The Labour Party had other Lord Mayors fo Liverpool, but he was the first."
"Frederick's parents did not return to Cranfield where once they must have been held in some esteem. We know Frederick returned once, in October 1935 as the guest of honour for the 275th anniversary of the Cranfield Baptist Chapel, but nothing more of what became of his brothers, sisters, and children."
Frederick married Susan Sarah Ward, daughter of Robert Scott Ward and Mary Robb McClelland, on 5 Sep 1898 in The Church of St. Cyprian, Edge Hill, Liverpool, England. (Susan Sarah Ward was born in 1877 in Edge Hill, Liverpool, England.)
