J.W. was originally a horse groomer for William Harris. Most of his life he raised Hackney ponies on the farm in Brampton that J.W. and Nellie lived their married lives in.
The 100 acre farm, known as Walnut Park, was given to the couple in 1903 as a wedding present from Nellie's parnent's, William & Caroline Harris.
Walnut Park stayed within the Fleury family until J.W.'s death in 1956. It was then sold.
John married Nellie Harris, daughter of William Harris and Caroline Richardson, on 2 Apr 1903 in 450 Pape Avenue, Toronto, Ontario. (Nellie Harris was born on 11 Aug 1876 in Queen Street, Toronto, Ontario, died on 26 Jun 1937 in Chinguacousy Township, Peel Region, Ontario and was buried on 28 Jun 1937 in Brampton Cemetery, Brampton, Ontario.) The cause of her death was Lung Cancer.
